I don't think the times we live in will ever allow such arrogance to overflow in a public way again. If there were such a person as Rutherford today would history repeat itself? Or could the society with a more humble attitude use the medium again more sucessfully? These of course is only speculative but they seem long overdue for some good publicity.

What is the real reason witnesses ceased phongraghs and radio broadcasts?
by Tyrone van leyen init would seem that for its day using the available tecnology was a progressive move.
did the society just decide one day in a watchtower that it was all wrong.
how did everyone that had to do this work react.

If that's the case Gary, then we might look upon the Rutherford era as a personality cult. A real shitty personality.

It's funny they can't seem to make the connection between attacking others beleifs and getting attacked themselves. Maybe the society also realized that there longevity would be shortlived if they were to continue in this manner. Being reviled by the public at large and governments who have the power to shut them down. Instead they should have preached love instead of inciting hatred. They truly need there collective eyes opened.

Fascinating stuff, I didn't know that about cbc. That's a great station. So they really were annoying people everywhere. Perhaps if they didn't come across as so radical they would have had a greater appeal. That sure is an early start they got, and they blew it. As far as I'm concerned their only tested method is now failing as well, thanks to the information age. This religion and tecnology don't seem to mix very well. For this reason they will never be mainstream. That, and there arrogance I hope will consign them to the dustbins of history

Interesting that such methods proved ineffective on the world at large. Even religions of today that have such a meduim at there disposal seem more effective and even profitable. The witnesses of the day must have annoyed the shit out of people. If it was an effective means of doing the work there is no way they would have stopped it. Perhaps cults only seem appealing to those that are in them.

It would seem that for its day using the available tecnology was a progressive move. Did the society just decide one day in a watchtower that it was all wrong. How did everyone that had to do this work react. Really, if it was wrong, then the people doing it would have no choice but to admit to themselves that they did nothing more than annoy millions of people and get themselves beaten up for nothing. How did the society pull this off? what went wrong? and why to this day do they still not do it?

Jehovah is like a dead beat dad
by MsMcDucket inthe kids don't know what he looks like or what he's like at all.
other men step in and run the family and you get treated like a stepchild or abused.
you want your real dad to come and get you; he's supposed to be so good; but he never comes.

I fully agree with that analysis. Whenver a JW fully accepts the doctrine as the word of god. There position as parents has been usurped by a very faulty ideology. An ideology that puts a corporation ahead of family. Rational thought disappears and gut instincts as well. We have instincts for a reason and accepting somone elses ideas on how to raise their kids is a cop out in parenting that does not require the use of thought and is more a punitive way of growing up than a loving way. The truth of the matter is, for anyone who grew up in this, our parents were really 12 ponticating geeks from brooklyn new York. We were raised by con artists from afar. People who never had children themselves and yet will interpret the world to us.

The Sorrow and the Pity of the Watchtower: denial of DUE PROCESS
by Terry innounthe state, action, or principle of treating all persons equally in accordance with the law.
fairness is something familiar to even the smallest child.
being treated without bias is a hunger humanity has fought for in every society; some less successfully than in present day.. in america we are guaranteed fairness when dealing with the state or federal government due to the imbalance of relative power between the individual and the state.

You sure got a way with words Terry. I can't beleive that stupid organization threw these great minds out the door. Now it's forming a collective and the gun is starting to turn towards them with the aid of the internet. Our due process has weighed them in the balance and has found them deficient. That must worry them.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HEARD IT ALL!!! THIS IS SICK!!!
by Lady Liberty inmy mother called me last night and shared with me something my dad just discovered in doing some research on the internet.
it is out of the book published by the wathchtower in 1966, entitled, "life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god".. my parents have the book, and listen to what was written about adam and bestiality.... page 45, para.
before god created anything new, a woman, god left the man free to determine whether there was a suitable companion for him among all the lower animals.

Doesn't suprise me. Remember, God chose for himself a people on the earth and then he had to warn them not to screw their daughters and sons as well as the hairy he goats. I could walk to the local prison and find a more moral upstanding and less bloodthirsty lot than this. Those Jews sure think highly of themselves don't they ? That the almighty would choose them to represent him on earth is extremely hard to swallow. I think the GB has spent too much time with there noses in the old testament forging their sexist veiws of the world. It wouldn't suprise me if they made the watchtower farms so they could have conjugal visits with their furry freinds.

Dawkins is the same religion as me. He goes to the church of common sense and logic is his god. I sure hope science comes up with a cure for fundamentalists. Maybe a memory wipe and then a strong injection of truth through a wet tap. If their is a future or hope for humanity it will be from great minds like this. We should create Utopia in the here and now, instead of the holy mollies waiting for god to do it.
